I appreciate where you’re coming from, Makayla, and believe me, I have tremendous respect for you (former?) profession.

At the heart of your criticism is the fact that I, the author, know nothing of sex workers or sex work. That is an erroneous belief. I know more, much more about sex work at a deeply personal level, more than I let on in this story. I am saving it for my novel.

And believe me, the purpose of my novel (or indeed this story) was never to shame or to judge sex workers or the clients they service. I have no societal or political bias towards this subject whatsoever. I am merely trying to tell a tale from my perspective as honestly and as entertainingly as I can.
